Budget planner
What is a budget planner and how does it help with my cash flow planning?
A budget planner is a record of your annual income and expenditure. More income than expenditure is obviously better than the other way around unless you are certain you have enough capital to last you the rest of your life.
Setting up and working within a budget is an intrinsic part of any good financial plan. In fact you should doubt the advice of any financial planner or independent financial adviser who works with you without having a good idea of your budget and cash flow.
In my opinion budget planning is extremely important. If you wish to control anything or make a good decision – get the facts and figures first. A budget planner helps you to achieve this.
What figures do I need to get together?
You need figures on all your income and all your expenditure over at least the last full year.
How do I produce a budget planner?
A budget planner can be done in a variety of ways depending on how important you consider it is to get accurate figures.
- The worst way but quickest – Make your best guess at the figures on a piece of paper form or excel spreadsheet available free on a quick search on the internet and add them up
- Second best but takes more time – Get more accurate figures by looking over a years worth of bank statements and credit card statements. Using the same forms and add your figures up to give you a good idea. How good an idea you get will depend on how accurately you record the figures. You need to do this at least annually. It is unlikely to be accurate enough and because it is a big job you are unlikely to do it every year
- The best method. Use our FREE weekly budget planner – Do number 2 first but only once. Therefore set up a system to spend around 10 minutes a week to accurately record all of your income and expenditure
Why do you recommend your FREE weekly budget planner?
Basically it does the job properly.
We advise our millionaire clients to imagine their personal finances as a business. Irrelevant of the statutory implications, you wouldn’t dream of running a business without keeping proper records of all your income and all your expenditure. Failure to do so would probably result in at best lower profits and worst – going bust. So why not apply the same principles to your personal finances.
Why is your budget planner free?
We originally built it to help our clients. We started with a spreadsheet but soon noticed some clients found it confusing and so we built our own Budget planner software and made it as simple as possible to use.
The budget planner software is given away free because if you recognise the value of actually using the software, it obviously has our name and contact numbers built into it. Who knows, one day you may call us to help you with your financial planning or financial advice.
How easy is it to use your budget planner software?
Very easy. We deliberately designed it to be as quick and easy to use as possible – that way we felt most of our clients who are usually pressed for time would actually use it.
