Early retirement
I want to retire early. What can you do to help?
Early retirement is a lifestyle and financial planning decision which should not be taken lightly. Our life planning service which forms the first part of our Clear Future Program is specifically designed to help millionaire clients like you establish if this is the right course for you.
How much will I need to achieve early retirement?
Obviously it will vary, depending on your income needs. However let’s be honest – retiring early is extremely difficult today. Due to most people living longer, the annuity (payments from pension plans) levels are much lower now than they were 10 years ago. A healthy 65 year old male using a £100,000 from a pension would only receive around £7000 a year. So if you want to retire early you need a much bigger pot.
What do I need to do to achieve early retirement?
Find a financial planner, get a financial plan and good independent financial advice and start and working on your cash flow planning as early as possible.
Simply put you need to build your investment portfolio and other assets until they reach a point when the steady income they produce matches your average annual expenditure. You also need to have sufficient capital in reserve to allow for unforeseen situations and inflation. Once this is achieved you can retire. Unfortunately most people never achieve this, let alone before 65 which is why good financial planning is essential.
