Don’t be late with your tax return
The old £100 penalty has not proved to be the deterrent it was intended to be – too many tax payers are still filing late returns. Late filing of your self assessment tax return for 2010-11 will now be subject to a new penalty regime.
Index linked savings are back!
National Savings and Investments (NS&I) index-linked savings certificates are back on sale, offering a lifeline to savers who have seen their nest-eggs eroded by inflation – currently running at 5.3% as measured by the retail prices index.
The UK economy and small companies
A gap has emerged between the growth of small and large companies. A survey has shown that companies with less than 50 employees have reported less growth in profits than those with more than 250 employees. Small businesses are suffering from reduced margins, as many companies are still overall generating revenue growth.
